The Day-2 Training Workshop on the National AMU Surveillance System of Bangladesh (OHASS) was successfully completed. The session was attended by representatives from around 30 pharmaceutical companies, officials from the Directorate General of Drug Administration (DGDA), and the technical team from JBRSOFT Limited.
The training focused on enhancing participants’ understanding of the OHASS platform, covering key modules related to company registration, product management, and antimicrobial usage (AMU) data entry. Through practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises, participants gained valuable experience in navigating and using the system efficiently.
Discussion Highlights
During the training, several important operational and technical issues were discussed, including:
1. How to handle cases where a manufacturing site has entries in both exporter and importer.
2.The suggestion to add a date selection option during AMU data entry for better record accuracy.
3. Whether it is possible to include “Pregnancy Status” or “Safety Status” information in the product setup module.
4. Clarification on how to enter multiple pack sizes (e.g., 50 ml, 30 ml, and 15 ml) under a single product entry.
These discussions provided valuable insights for further system enhancement and user convenience.
Remarks from the Director General
Later in the session, the Director General of the DGDA joined and delivered an insightful speech on the importance of antibiotic stewardship and the OHASS in promoting rational antimicrobial use across Bangladesh.
He appreciated the initiative and emphasized how this digital platform will help ensure the responsible use of antibiotics, ultimately saving countless lives.
In his remarks, he also commended JBRSOFT Limited for their outstanding technical contribution, saying that “JBRSOFT Limited has done remarkable work that will help save many lives easily — a contribution so meaningful that it can be considered a noble deed worthy of Jannat.”
The day-2 of the training concluded successfully with active participation and meaningful discussions. The collaborative efforts of DGDA, WHO, and JBRSOFT Limited are paving the way toward a more efficient and data-driven AMU surveillance system in Bangladesh.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to S. M. Sabrina Yesmin, for her sincere guidance, continuous support, and active involvement throughout the implementation of the National AMU Surveillance System. Her dedication and encouragement have been instrumental in the success of this initiative.
We also express our special appreciation to the DGDA and the WHO, especially Dr. Aninda Rahman, for their continued collaboration, guidance, and commitment to strengthening antimicrobial surveillance in Bangladesh.
